There are rumblings of rebellion from the red wall in the north. Apart from the govt is anyone surprised? A little recent history in my lifetime. The govt gave away our fishing industry as a bribe to get into the EU. Then they off-shored our excellent light and heavy industries, replacing the product short-fall with cheap imports. They closed the mines using jack-boot tactics that would have made Nazi’s proud (then imported cheap coal). Then they undermined our agriculture in the effort to “harmonise” our superior practices and product with the EU’s lower standards, so that we would not enjoy any competitive advantage through being better.
Still the British are a patient and stoical people and let this go. After all, what do you expect from the venal political class, only interested in feathering their own nests and blissfully ignorant how ordinary people live their lives.
But the most patient donkey will rebel when it is pushed too far. Having lost all the above as a direct consequence of govt action they have come, via Covid Lockdowns and masking to destroy the only small and medium sized businesses we have left. Businesses which provide most of the work up here in the north, the only thing that stands between ordinary folk and the dole queue.
The north has been left with no choice. If those businesses go – and many have gone already under the first Lockdown – there is nothing left.
In the last 60 years our govt, under all parties have done more damage to this country than our most ambitious enemies could have dreamed.
This is the end of the line.
It looks as if the choice has become – the people or the government. One or other is unfit for purpose.
In the past our elites disposed of unwanted populations which they had decided were surplus to requirements. The Irish famine under British rule at the time. The Highland Clearances.
If we are not careful, we will be next.
